Tools to Create Change

By Dee Britton

Are you living the life that you truly desire? Is everything in your life going just the way you have always dreamed? Relationships? Wealth? Health? Career? Family? If not, then what are you doing about making the change and creating that awesome life that you were meant to live?
Creating Everlasting Change
In order to create real everlasting change in any area of your life you must be equipped with the right tools. One of the biggest problems in society today is that so many people say that they want to change and do nothing about it (except moan about their current situation). Or on the other hand they spend much time and effort gathering the tools required to change, yet never doing anything with them.
Renovating your life is just like renovating your house and it always needs constant up keep. If you are renovating your house you need to know what you want done. What room in the house needs an update, what trades you require, what equipment and tools you need and you need to know how you want the finished product to look. You can either decide to outsource the work or do it yourself. Creating a better life is just the same but many people do not invest in themselves like they invest in their homes.
Preparing Your Own Personal Tool Belt
If you have decided to do the renovating yourself it is like walking into Bunnings (a large hardware store) with an empty tool belt on. You walk in the door and you are overwhelmed. You go up and down all the different aisles and there are thousands of different tools that you could fill your tool belt with but you have only got so much room or so much capacity. You know that only the best tools, the most precise tools will ensure a fantastic renovation.
As you walk down the aisles at Bunnings and you think to yourself:
'Shit, where do I start?
'Which aisle do I go down?'
'What do I need to get this job done?'
You've got this big list of problems that you need to overcome and an even bigger list of the extra stuff that you want out of life. You need a store attendant in overalls or in a Bunnings apron (an expert in the field) to really guide you and show you how to get what you need and guide you to the specific tools that you need, so that you can just leave with all the right tools to get the job done right.
No two renovations are ever the same so the tools must be selected specifically for you.
How Much Do You Want The Change?
In order for the renovation to go ahead you must really want it to happen. You must be so sick and tired of just existing and you understand that there is so much potential, and the investment is worth it. You are aware that there will be a bit of upheaval going on and maybe some unexpected obstacles as the changes take place. But you understand that the finished product will be so much better than the current one.
The Tools Do Not Work All By Themselves
There is no use going out and getting the tools or employing the trades if you are not ready or really sure about what you want. How many renovations do you see half finished? Or do you know of people who have decided to make the change, have gone out and purchased the tools, only to have them sit in the shed collecting dust.
There are many resources available that will equip you with a full belt of tools so that you can feel fully prepared for the change. So, NOW is the time to really think about what type of renovations really need to be happening in your life. Not tomorrow, not next week, not next year, but NOW! Go out and get the necessary tools or trade experts and stop just thinking about it. Life is too short to live in a miserable old shack.
To health, happiness & living the life of YOUR dreams.

Keep "Doing": Empowerment to Maintain Certain Societal Virtues

By Jennifer N Daniels

There is always something to fight for in our society, whether social, political, or environmental. Those of us that remain in the fight for a better society sometimes become weary. ("...let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart" Galatians 6:9 (RSV)). Sometimes it also seems that we are the only ones in the battle for good. On the contrary, there is a theory that may help; stemming from more obvious societal values, we glean hope!
In efforts to "reconcile our social world", John Rawls, political philosopher at Harvard University has reminded us of some necessary [political] virtues that can provide us initial encouragement.
We know that our fragmented society has always needed cooperation. And Rawls asserts that "fairness and tolerance and a willingness to meet others halfway" are the things that lend us to greater cooperation. What we are now empowered to do, in every corner of our lives, is actively pursue cooperation. And here is the reason to maintain an active pursuit: there are residual benefits that foot soldiers still in the fight may not see for ourselves and those surrounding us.
I am sure we can all think of other societal concepts that stress these precepts. What would our world look like if we all aspired to do these very things in our daily life? What type of society would we have if no one had this frame of mind?
Light at the Middle
If "a sufficient number" of us could find ourselves in a loving position like this, Rawls assures this 'hypothetical society' that "even if numerous citizens lapse on occasion," and become weary in well-doing, we can still maintain a cooperative healthy society and much more as it relates to a "realistic utopia". And this is because we pushed the persistence in the first place. Therefore, if we begin to push ourselves more to maintain purity, we can then take concessions for the times we are weak ourselves.
If you can picture each of us practicing these values -fairness, tolerance, and willingness to meet half-way -- we can significantly shape our societies foundation, one pillar at a time. We each become the basis and basic structure of our society, the face of modern times. Moreover, as we build the society up to the utopia that we have defined and hoped for in the back of our minds, we simultaneously engender a support system for ourselves when we are weak.
Always a Current
Now is the time, if ever before, to shape our nation and society as a whole, by principles that are essential to our foundation. We can sing "Kumbaya" for we have other principalities fighting for influence; but if we can finally come to a point in which many of our sectors stop discussing unity and begin to act on it, we will renew our strength. (There are many divisions in society that we could discuss, but I am sure you can think of some groups of your own.) Moreover, with faith in our hands, we will directly and indirectly hasten closer toward a "realistic utopia".
Although there is always a current pushing against our attempts at cooperation, now is the time. Now is the time for a movement, as the political tides of the United States are applying more pressure on the truth, while pushing its very essence out of consideration. Now is the time as we find increasing numbers of people turning to religion and relinquishing spirituality. Now is the time as we soldiers begin to lose heart while losing contact with others in the fight for what is 'well'. THIS is an important time! Do not faint! Understand your mutual relationship between yourself and your community and be empowered to value your action!

Affirm the Will to Win

By Lance Winslow

Back in my younger days, I was a track star and there were other athletes who were genetically superior, had better builds, and clearly they should have won every race. But they didn't, and there was a great equalizer; Will! That's right, the will to win.
Anyone who has ever competed at the highest levels of competition realizes that you have to commit, you have to endure, and you have to push your limits. You can will your body to perform not only at optimum, but beyond its physical limits. Eventually what you learn is there are no such things as limits, except those limits you set for yourself.
It's easy to be in a competition and become intimidated, and back off. It's easy to get psyched out, or feel the presence of another athlete who is ultra-determined to beat you. The question is how strong are you in your mind? How much strength of character can you muster, to face your competitor, look them in the eyes, and not flinch? Can you bring yourself to know in advance that you will win?
The answer is yes, but it depends upon you, no one else can do this for you, and I am sure even if you hypnotize yourself, and tell yourself you are going to win, you will not be able to beat someone who truly believes in themselves, their abilities, and has committed themselves in their mind. Sometimes, I believe that human sporting competition brings out the best of the species.
Not only the strongest, and most fit, but those who are strong in the mind. Indeed, you'll need to have both, that is to say you will have to be in excellent shape, and learn the skills required to compete at the upper levels in whatever sport you choose, but you still must possess to strong will, and strength of character if you are going to be victorious time and time again. You must affirm your destiny.
Now then, it's a lot easier to watch someone else compete then actually have to go through the process yourself. Most of the top athletes make it look so easy, when they've had to endure so much to get to that upper-level. Some of them have beaten their bodies into oblivion, and got up, time and time again, and persevered through the pain and agony of defeat along the way. Still, they affirmed to never give up.
Sometimes, I wish that we could see strength of character and will in others, yes sometimes you can feel it, sense it, but wouldn't it be nice if they had a certain aura or glow around them based on their level of will and intensity, showing the strength of their affirmations coming in to fruition. Of course, it takes one to know one, and if you develop that level of strength inside, you will easily recognize it and others. Indeed, I hope you will please consider all these philosophical thoughts on sports competition and think on it. I want you to win, affirm it, be that winner.

Let Your Strength Work for You

By Girijesh Pathak

Each student has some strength and weakness. It is a common advise available to everyone that he should try to overcome his weaknesses. This shifts the focus towards weaknesses and in certain situations doesn't allow the strength to work.
It depends on the kind of examinations a student is taking. There are examinations in which lakhs of students score over 90% marks. Do such tests test the strengths of the students or weaknesses? It is basically a pressure situation in which a student has to built a capability of answering questions in a pre-decided way. If he does, he scores irrespective of whether he knows the concept or not. He gets high marks but how does it help him? High marks can be helpful only in getting admission in next course where admission is based on marks. Leave aside the marks and you find that these students in order to get high marks have build such capabilities that may not be of much help in getting success in subsequent phases of life. Mere a surface level knowledge on all the topics in the structured way provided by the system is good enough to score 90%. This habit of living with surface level knowledge and not learning to go deeper becomes a bottleneck in getting overall success at later stage.
Majority of the examinations in India that open the door of great career are low scoring. Whether it is IIT-JEE or CAT or Civil services examination, in all such examinations it is seen that about 50% aggregate marks is good enough to get a good rank. Such tests try to test the depth of understanding of various concepts in the student. It penetrates to such level that it is not easy to have such in-depth understanding in all the topics in the syllabus. It is not expected too. But, if a person follows the advise of working hard on the weaknesses, he gets into a trap. He is not able to go sufficiently deep on his strong topics to be able to score in such examinations. Also, he is not able to do much from his weak areas. It is seen that lakhs of students regularly scoring over 90% in their school and college examinations fail to score even 20-25% in examinations like IIT-JEE. That too after coaching from highly reputed places.
Hence, it is very important to work on own strengths and allow them to work for you. Shifting the focus from weaknesses to strengths works wonders. And it makes the preparation enjoying too.

Three Things Most People Do Wrong When Trying to Release Emotions

By Dr Lisa Turner

Emotions are good. They let us know when something isn't right for us. At least that's what they are meant for.
However all too often the emotion you feel now in the present is actually based in a memory from the past. When this happens it means you can't make the best decisions for yourself. You will find it hard to be 100% present and in the now, because the past is always pulling you back.
Sadly exactly how to recover from the past isn't well known and here are the 3 biggest mistakes that people make when trying to deal with their emotions.
1. Understand them
Do you know someone who knows exactly WHY they have their problems? They know the cause, the events that led to them, how it all happened. They will know and fully understand all the patterns and triggers, and often they will find every opportunity to share them with anyone who seems even remotely interested, they will launch into their "story". The problem is they still have the problem. Knowing why you have the problem and understanding it is a bit like knowing your car doesn't work because its fan belt has broken, but not actually replacing the fan belt.
2. Express them
Many therapies focus on crying, talking about your problem or even shouting and screaming.
Crying does not release the emotions, nor does it resolve the problem. Although crying can give temporary relief and release endorphins, this simply masks the problem and, in fact, reliving the painful event reinforces the problem and makes it worse, rather than better.
Rather than releasing the emotions this actually reinforces them in your neurology. Every time you think a thought, feel an emotion or recall a memory, the neurons fire in your brain along the same original path. Each time you do this you will actually be strengthening that path, making it easier for that pathway to be fired up next time. This is why small events in the present can trigger past trauma. Expressing emotions does not release them.
Therefore each time you relive a traumatic event, you will strengthen the neural pathway. But if you RELEASE the negative emotions new, positive and empowering thought processes can then be installed.
3. Suppress them
This is also called denial and we do this in a variety of ways. Most people will simply kid themselves or deny that they have any problems at all. Often emotions are suppressed or anaesthetised out of consciousness with addictions. Smoking, drinking, video games, TV, eating too much or a compulsion to eat a particular thing, even caffeine will anaesthetise your pain.
However, the pain and the problems are still there. The neurons are still firing, but out of your conscious awareness. So you are radiating out all that energy completely ignorantly until boom some big problem lands in your life and you can't understand where it came from or why it happened when you were thinking happy thoughts.
Telltale signs that you have suppressed emotions
A) Overreactions
You overreact to small things - this is known as emotional leakage. The emotions, denied in one area of your life, literally spill out in other areas. So if you are irritable, overly sentimental, get hurt by small things, even road rage, are signs that you could be suppressing emotions in another area.
B) Low or no Energy
Feeling tired - it takes energy to carry emotions (that's why it's called emotional baggage) and it takes even more energy to suppress them. If you are lacking in energy, need more sleep than most people or just have no get up and go. Many of my past clients were suffering from chronic fatigue or ME, which disappeared once they released their emotions.
C) You have physical pain or even illness
I've received a lot of questions about illness, heart problems, chronic fatigue, auto-immune, chronic pain and so on.
Pain, illness or physical discomfort is one of the ways our unconscious minds communicate with us. Your unconscious mind is communicating with your conscious mind all the time, but in the highly logical, rational, left brain society we have been conditioned to ignore those silly irrational feelings and only to pay attention to rational thinking.
But no matter how irrational they might seem they do have a rational cause. It's just that our conscious / logical mind doesn't have all the information. So it assumes the unconscious mind is wrong and overrules it.
This is what happens with our emotions and illness. Our unconscious mind will tell our conscious mind that something needs to change or move or it will just give us some feedback. But our conscious mind ignores it, so our unconscious mind gives it louder and louder and we turn it off and become numb to our emotions.
The problem is still there so our unconscious mind tries another way of communicating. The unconscious mind runs the body and it governs all those automatic processed like our immune system and muscles etc.
So if we ignore our emotions our unconscious mind gives us the messages as pain or illness. But when we pay attention to the emotions and release them the physical problem can disappear.
This is particularly true of all those psychosomatic illnesses. That doesn't mean they are not real. The pain and the problem is VERY real, but it is caused because we don't have a mechanism to release our emotions so we suppress them.

3 Steps to Tracking Your Dreams Successfully

By Rochelle Holloman

Do you forget your dreams when you awaken? Most people don't remember their dreams. If you are one of those persons, then maybe what you need is this information to help you track your dreams successfully and even remember them. Once you get into the habit, it will be easier. Keeping a dream log or diary is a great tool to use to assist you.
Below are steps to take that can help you track and remember your dreams.
1. Before you go to bed, have a pen and blank pad or a sheet of paper at your bedside. (it's okay if you prefer to keep your dream log or diary instead). If you think you be better off with a tape recorder instead of writing, then do so. You will have to still put it in your log. Avoid heavy meals and lots of fluids before retiring. Avoid stressful situations, these tend to make you have night mares. Try reading to make it easier for you to fall asleep. Relax and be as peaceful as you can. Avoid sleeping aides (sleeping pills) or alcohol because you will more than likely forget your dream once you awaken.
2. Also, have some type of light at your bedside to see in case you awaken in the middle of the night with a dream. A flashlight will be fine if you don't have a lamp at your bedside that you can get to quickly.
3. As soon as you awaken start writing down your dreams. If you move to get out of bed you will surely forget it, unless it is a major dream (a major dream is one that is catastrophic in nature, a death or nightmare). Try not to think of anything but that dream. Write down keywords or a list of items or pointers that will make you remember the whole dream or at least a majority of it.
Remembering your dreams can be challenging. Analyzing or interpreting your dream can be also be frustrating if you don't know how. As stated the major obstacle or problem is remembering it. There are many interpretations of dreams. Sometimes you will need a combination of books or other sources to help in deciphering what your dream really means. Sometimes after analyzing your dream, it still does not make any sense until you have successfully followed them for a while. Try to track your dreams on a regular basis, that way it won't feel so difficult or complex.

Money Making Opportunities: How to Get Lucky More Often

By Roberta Gerrick

Some people in life seem to always be in the right place at the right time. Whether they happen to meet an old colleague at a coffee shop who introduces them to profitable money making opportunities or they find a $100 bill in a random parking lot, fortunate events seem to be a commonplace occurrence in their life.
It's easy to believe that some people are just lucky. However, that is
not true at all. Studies show that people who seem to attract more fortunate events and opportunities in their life actually share several traits. If you want to be luckier and attract bigger and better money making opportunities in your life then you need to adopt these mindsets.
3 Tips for Attracting More Money Making Opportunities
Take More Chances
People who appear to be luckier in life than others may only be so because statistics favors the bold. Successful people tend to take more chances than unsuccessful people and the more risks you take the more likely one of those risks will pay off in a big way with opportunities to make money or increased visibility of your business. You see this all the time in sports. In fact, Michael Jordan illustrates this perfectly when he said:
"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."
You may miss 50% of the shots you take but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
Be Open to Money Making Opportunities
A survey done by psychologist Richard Wiseman found that people who seem to be luckier were actually just more open to the possibilities of life. During an experiment he conducted where people self reported whether they felt lucky or not, he had both groups count the number of pictures they found in a newspaper. People who self reported being lucky were able to find them within a few seconds while it took about 2 minutes or more for the unlucky group to find the same pictures.
According to Wiseman, the reason for this discrepancy is that unlucky people are so focused on a singular purpose that they often overlook the opportunities that are right under their nose.
'Unlucky people miss chance opportunities because they are too focused on looking for something else. They go to parties intent on finding their perfect partner, and so miss opportunities to make good friends. They look through the newspaper determined to find certain job advertisements and, as a result, miss other types of jobs. Lucky people are more relaxed and open, and therefore see what is there, rather than just what they are looking for.'
If you want to increase the number of money making opportunities that flow into your life, then you need to keep yourself open to all the possibilities surrounding you. You may not find a million dollar idea but you could come upon a way to generate a sizeable amount of passive income that will take you one step further towards your goal.
Look for Ways to Turn Misfortune Around
Bad things happen. It is an unfortunate fact of life. However, successful people who seem to have a constant flow of money earning opportunities have mastered the art of being able to take lemons and turn them into lemonade.
It is no secret that many of the Fortune 500 companies in existence today were started during the Great Depression. Something good can come out of most bad situations. It is just a matter of developing the mindset to always look for the bright side. More often than not, that is where you will find your money making opportunities.
Anyone can experience more luck in their life. Make a habit of keeping your eyes and ears open to the world around you and you'll find that the number of money making opportunities in your life will increase dramatically.
